Default Snatch and Clean Critique

Hey guys, been lifting for a little over a year now up here in Sacramento. I went down to California Strength a couple months ago and it was truly inspiring.

My lifts have been getting better overall. However, in the snatch I don't consistently get that feeling of the bar "flying up." It almost feels like it is all 1st and 3rd pulls, no second. It just doesn't feel like I am getting my legs into it. I am also terrible at power snatches. That might be why.

Here is a video of some of my lifts from the other day. The snatches felt better as I went on.

In cleans the bar swings out. My jerks just suck when it gets heavy.

Here is the video. Any tips or advice is much appreciated. Thanks a bunch!

So yesterday I really concentrated on using my lats to keep the bar closer, I also kind of curled the wrists inwards. This helped. I definitely felt more of that "weightless" feeling of the bar, and more of a "flick" into a lockout. I will have to practice a lot more, obviously.

I watched the snatches, I am not sure what you are talking about when you say your lacking a 2nd pull, you are accelerating the bar at the top pretty good. You arent that quick going under though, and you are catching them way, way high. maybe keeping the back (lats) tighter is helping you to transition quicker...

On the clean, focus on raising the head and shoulders more at the top of the pull, and turning the elbows out more, this should help with you kicking the bar out front.

Hmmm...Maybe I am confusing speed of the bar with speed of the pull under. That feeling of the bar "flying up" might really be the feeling of a strong pull under the bar.

I will try that with the cleans.

Thanks for the reply.
