I'm familiar with Crossfit and have lifted in a couple of boxes here in the Phoenix area. I've done a couple of the WOD's, but it's not my thing really. Mostly it's the strength/squat AND pull volume combined that seems to be getting me lately. I've been looking at the Madcow version of 5x5, which is a ramping 5x5 with about 10kg jumps. I think I could get by with that one and recover, even with pulls.
I feel you, man. Obviously you've got to limit stress while you sort out the out-of-workout stuff, but you know that. As much as weightlifting is a stress-reliever mentally, it's also a stress-creator with the physical toll. Is it squat/strength work volume that gets you, or classic lifts, or both? You're on the CF forum so I assume you have some experience with that, would something more varied be more interesting/less of a beat-down?
I'm in somewhat of a similar situation, though not with job issues. Started an MBA program in March and between that and working and the coaching I do, I just can't swing going to my lifting gym half an hour away, 2.5-3 hours a day 3 days a week. So I dropped that to just Saturday mornings and now I just want to change things up a little outside of that since I feel like I'm stalling/plateuing way too often.
