took video saturday from the best side angle possible with all theother stuff around the o-platform.

got some great feedback last time and tried to incorporate as much as possible.

my big problem looks to be speed under the bar. the 80kg attempts were clearly high enough i should have had them.

Steve,

there are a couple of things you are doing in that vid that need work. One is shooting your hips up at the start, the other is getting forward onto your toes much, much too soon in the lift. the bar should move toward you as it comes off the floor, and your weight should go to your heels and stay there until the end of the second pull where you generally go onto your toes a bit. You are moving the bar out right off the bat, and getting onto your toes as the bar goes from your knee to your hip... this is the reason your not going under quickly and catching the bar successfully.

thanks for watching

any cues or ideas for practice? someone suggested that i do some high-hang sn to work on really "pulling" under the bar and keeping it near my body. what do you think of that idea?

I am a big fan of fixing the problems that come first in the lift first, then moving on from there... sometimes problems later in the lift magically disapear when the initial problem is addressed.

If I were you, I would work on starting a bit slower, staying tighter, and keeping the hips lower... Your hips and shoulders should be moving up at the same rate of speed till the bar gets to your knees. If you work on that, and really try to push those knees back and get the bar moving back toward you or at the least in a straight line instead of moving forward, it MIGHT just also improve your ability to pull under. IMO, no one is going to be able to pull under quickly if they are forward towards the end of the first pull and the second pull.

glenn, that makes sense, thank you.

do you know of any good mental cues to address the rising hips? Both Caleb and Great Everett mentioned the same thing in my initial snatch video from a couple weeks ago so I actually was being contientious about it. Obviously not enough so...

i will take another video in 3-4 weeks and see how she looks.

For one thing, you will have to slow your start down to fix this. If I were standing in front of you, I would be saying chest up/knees back to you before every rep...

Hope that helps
