I've been using Polysporin lip balm on my palms because I have it at my desk but bag balm seems like a better plan. The grater thing looks like those 'Ped Egg' things they have for removing callouses from feet.

I was recently scouring google for something like this for taping and dealing with the callouses. Thanks!

Bag Balm is good stuff. Palmers makes one almost as good. I have heard good things about Cornhusker lotion.

But I think Bag Balm is the best. And it's just fun to use a product called "Bag Balm". Plus the can has instructions on how to use it on a cow's teats. Which is always good, you know, just in case.

I quickly realized that hand care is probably one of the most important things a lifter can do outside of the training period. After splitting and tearing more calluses over the course of 4 - 5 month period than I had over the course of the last 13 or so years, I learned my lesson the hard way.

Great choice of article that newer lifters may not have considered to be all that important.

Callus removers and cocoa butter have been a godsend for me. That along with not over-chalking my hands and the bar. I also found bio oil to be quite useful too.

I use a black foot emery on my callouses pretty much every day. Sometimes I use one after I start lifting if I notice anything starting to pinch or pull. I have a York Intl n/b bar, which was the affordable option for me, but has atrocious knurling. If I get absentminded with callous care, that bar makes sure I pay the price. I'm gonna give bag balm a try- my hands look like I live in the desert.

Excellent advice!

What brand and width of adhesive tape is shown in the video?

For years I have been using 1" x 10 yds of Johnson and Johnson FirstAid Waterproof Tape which goes for almost $7 a roll. The J&J 1" looks is considerably thinner than whats shown in the video and in particular would not be well suited for the "middle-hole-punch-slip-over-the-finger" technique demonstrated.

As an alternative to the pumice stone, I have been using a Bare Wood Sandpaper, 100 grit, medium for my callouses. The large black coarse emory boards work as well.

Another good alternative to the pomace stone/callous remover is an emory board. Cheap as hell, and available everywhere.

I read once that John Wooden (hall of fame basketball coach) would start every year's practice with all his top Div. I recruits by talking about how to properly put on their socks. Of course, the lesson was to put on socks right and keep them clean so blisters wouldn't unecessarily arise.

This is that type of video for weightlifters. It might seem like a boring topic to some but it is of critical importance in getting athletes into the gym with their hands in good shape. You ain't training if your hands can't go. And, it will frustrate you beyond measure. It is the type of video that should lead off any discussion about how to prepare for day to day weightlifting training.
Nice job, guys.
