my technique improvement is 100% because of everyone at TheNext Level in tampa FL. Patrick Costello has helped me so much. He was coached by coach pendlay at the last usaw certification. i couldn't afford it but hey, you know how that goes.

this is about 80% max effort for me. 195lbs / 88 kilos

i am competing in 85kg class, i weigh 86.5kg at time of this filming tonight

i can always use additional advice and help on ways to improve, the more eyes the better

thank you in advance

nice man, form is looking good.

On the Jerk:

get tall before your drive. Fill up with air and really try to emphasize a tall rack.

make sure your grip is loose, and that your weight is over your heels, then get tall and drive it up.

(you're driving the jerk forward a bit, and receiving the bar with all your weight over your front foot because of this. I too recently struggled with this, and the above is what helped me.)

thank you! when you say get tall, do you mean like, arch or straigthen everything or like shrug my shoulders up even more if possible? I take a big breath before the jerk, but should it be almost weight belt popping off big?

my jerk is my weakest mechanic of the two halves of the clean and jerk, and while it has improved significantly, I agree I need to work on it more.

by "tall" think of trying to get the barbell as high as possible in your rack position, so take a breath, tighten everything down then dip and drive straight up.

the "tall" cue helped me to drive the barbell with the legs, as I was focusing too much on pressing it up before.

my routine before the jerk is basically: take a nice big breath, get tall, make sure grip is loose and raise toes to make sure weight is on heels, then dip and drive.
