Hi all
I recently decided to learn the high-bar squat, and Im having trouble finding the correct form. Here is 2x50kg:

At the end of the training session I did some overhead squats. Here is 2x50kg:

The overhead squats felt alot easier than the high-bar squats, so I think I`ve been squatting way wrong, but I dont know how.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Why are you going down so slow?
On both exercises, you look good but will looik better if you let your knees slide a little more forward.

Thanks for the response Glenn!
Im going slow because I want to concentrate on form.
I did some reps with a broomstick at home and let the knees travel a bit more foreward, and noticed that my weight was shifting towards my toes, but the squats felt better. Ill start working on my ankle mobility from now on.

Hey, I also posted a comment on the videos.
I'm also fairly new to the high-bar squat, but as I said in the comments, if you get some Olympic shoes and also start doing some work on ankle flexibility... everything will probably fall into place.

Kloke,
speed it up a little my friend. You dont look bad, but you cant do it properly that slow. X2 your speed, and post another video, I am willing to bet it will be spot on.

Denver:
I`ve started working on ankle mobility and flexibility(thanks for the tip, Im already noticing the benefits), and also looked into weighlifting shoes.
Glenn: I`ll squat today and post a video.

As promised here are todays squat vids:
5x20kg:

5x60kg:

I pushed my knees a bit forward on these, and felt that the weight shifted toward my toes, and I also do a noticible butt-wink on all the reps. Any thoughts on what I should do?

I think you are over-analyzing your technique. Those looked fine to me.

As Glenn said, these are fine. You have to remember that in a high bar squat, your knees should come forward to some degree. The idea of the high bar squat is to keep the torso more upright, and to do that, the knees have to come forward somewhat. I don't think there is any "butt-wink" and agree that you are somewhat over-analyzing it. Just put some weight on the bar and continue squatting.

I see lots of world-class weightlifters who have a slight "butt wink" or whatever it's called. Who the hell comes up with these names anyway?

"butt wink",i,e.,low back rounding or flexion eventualy will hurt the guys who do it.
There are people that squat snatch, clean and squat with their butts almost touching the floor and with a flat back,it just takes time.
