How many of you use thumb tape? What style/brands have you found that work best?

I use it for nearly all my training sessions, as I find that I get blisters without some tape over my thumbs. I typically will just make a slit so that it doesn't impede flexibility around my thumb joint.

I've used several different brands, with Mueller probably being the best. Some of the cheaper ones are terrible. They just don't stay on. What are most people using these days? What do you use? Elastic, non-elastic? What brand?

I notice in Greg Everett's book, it appears they use the "JayBird" brand. Is that what most people are using?

I'm just curious. I need to order some more online, as I can't seem to find any selection in local stores.

In case anyone else was interested in this topic...

I found a place online that would let me order single rolls to try out different tapes. I've now tried 6 different types/brands. As far as thumb tape, I've found that "Jaybird & Mais 4600 Jaylastic Select Premium Lightweight Athletic Stretch Tape" is my favorite. The 2" wide roll is the perfect thumb size. It's plenty stretchy so it doesn't interfere with thumb movement. And it's strong as hell, doesn't even budge by the end of a long workout. Good product.

I use Johnson and Johnson athletic Tape but I divide the roll in half and so I have two thin strips. I usually only tape the base of my thumb and not the tip.

I use good ole hockey tape from Canadian Tire. haha, cheap but I mainly use it at the base of my thumb and any other place on my finger if I start developing a sore spot. I tried taping my thumbnail but I find I cannot hook grip the bar as well.

I do not like to pump products on our forum but this was an easy one to answer.

Even though this thread is old, it is very relevant and the question is always being asked. We have Cramer Sport Medicine products now. The tape section is here, http://www.pendlay.com/Tape-Underwrap_c_240.html. All Cramer products are inventoried at MDUSA, no drop shipping.

The Cramer 1000 1" and .75" are the most popular for thumb tape.

Also

The Cohesive Stretch Tape or the Eco-Flex Stretch Tape work very well if you want
the tape to be a tighter wrap so it does not slide off your thumb.

Thanks,

Brad
